Here is the latest local news Marietta.
The Marietta Noon Rotary Club is doing some good stuff. This week the club announced that they were able to donate more than $10,000 to area food pantries. Outgoing president Tony Huffman told The Marietta Times that he can’t think of a better way to spend his final meeting than giving this kind of cash to fight hunger.
DeWine has signed the two-year $86-billion budget, but he made some noteworthy vetoes.
He vetoed the measure that would have banned flavored vapes. He also vetoed a ban on university vaccine mandates. He made 44 vetoes in total, many having to do with tax issues, but by and large, it seems that he greenlit most of the tax cuts we were expecting. (Statenews)
The Ohio Department of Transportation is hiring. They need highway technicians in Washington and Morgan Counties. These are good paying full-time gigs, so if you or someone you know needs that, apply soon. (ODOT Twitter)

A little about me. My name is Chris Schmitt. I’m from Marietta, I went to Marietta High School and graduated from Ohio University with a degree in Journalism. I wrote for WOUB, Southeast Ohio Magazine, a slew of newspapers in Virginia, and was a national radio correspondent for IHeartRadio. I also started the Marietta Ohio Patch and until recently authored the daily newsletter. I say these things not to brag, but just to let you know, I’m not a hack… or if I am, less so than ANY other writer in the area.
