Here is the latest local news Marietta.
The Marietta Fire Department is flushing some hydrants tomorrow.
Watch out for discolored water and call the Water Treatment Plant at 740-374-6864 for further assistance. It will take a while to flush all the water out so be alert. (Marietta Ohio)
The Ohio Senate has unveiled its two-year $85.7 billion budget plan. The plan calls for income tax cuts, universal student vouchers, and a really cool plan to strip the Ohio Board of Education of most of its powers. There are a lot of other changes to the status quo in this budget so read up and call your Senator (Frank Hoagland) and let him know what you think. (Statenews)
Mary Dennis is this month’s Washington State Community College Student of the Month.
The 26-year-old is from St. Mary’s WV and majors in Radiologic Technology. She always loved taking pictures, now she’s going to be able to do that for a living. (WSCC)
This is personally a very sad one for me. A friend of mine passed away tragically up near the West Virginia-Pennsylvania border. Morgantown Police Officer Zane Breakiron died Friday night in a one-car crash.
He was a real-life hero, a good Christian, a good cop, and truly one of the good guys. Prayers for the family. You’ll make one heck of a guardian angel Zane. (KDKA)

A little about me. My name is Chris Schmitt. I’m from Marietta, I went to Marietta High School and graduated from Ohio University with a degree in Journalism. I wrote for WOUB, Southeast Ohio Magazine, a slew of newspapers in Virginia, and was a national radio correspondent for IHeartRadio. I also started the Marietta Ohio Patch and until recently authored the daily newsletter. I say these things not to brag, but just to let you know, I’m not a hack… or if I am, less so than ANY other writer in the area.
